We’re so sorry

Oh boy, I love this scene in Noah Baumbach’s newest film, Greenberg.

I’ve watched the clip many times since I watched the movie and I’m struck by how nicely the scene is edited. The music first plays as part of the soundtrack and then transitions to source music that Greta Gerwig’s character is listening to. Just lovely.

Wes Anderson’s amazing Bottle Rocket has a similar edit after one of the best scenes between Luke Wilson’s character and Owen Wilson’s character (I can’t find the clip, but go watch the movie again. Right now. And if you haven’t seen Bottle Rocket, stop reading silly weblogs and or whatever else you have planned today and get it. If you like things or know people, you’ll enjoy it. Srsly.)

Also, I tend not to drink champagne and here’s why: I end up just like Greta Gerwin’s character. Same song, same dancing, same singing, same outfit. That scene involving me doesn’t play as funny. At all. It’s super inappropriate.
